On May 3rd, beloved pop-punk gods New Found Glory released From The Screen To Your Stereo 3, another stellar collection of cover soundtrack songs. On May 30th, they enlisted Doll Skin, The Early November, and Real Friends and embarked on the From The Screen To Your Stereo To Your Town Tour. The fourth stop on the tour brought the show to The Underground Charlotte and we were there!
Both The Early November and Real Friends put on great opening acts (unfortunately, we arrived just as Doll Skin were leaving the stage). After a short intermission, New Found Glory hit the stage and the crowd went crazy.
Singer Jordan Pundik came out dressed in a stars and stripes boxer's robe, pants, and even a boxing glove as the band launched into their cover of Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger" from the Rocky III soundtrack. The night was heavy with covers as the band clocked in eight in total, including five from their excellent From The Screen To Your Stereo 3. But the band didn't turn their back on fan favorites either! They played iconic tracks like "Hit Or Miss," "Head On Collision," and "All Downhill From Here."
The band was on fire all night long. For those of you who have never seen New Found Glory (what's wrong with you?), they're a great live act! They are truly a fan's band: they interact with the crowd, goof around, and lead the crowd in sing-alongs. And let's not forget Pundik's costume changes! In addition to the Rocky Balboa costume, he also came out dressed as Frozen's Elsa and came out for the band's encore dressed as Back To The Future's Marty McFly before leading the band in the 1-2-3 punch of Back To The Future's "The Power Of Love," The Karate Kid Part II's "The Glory Of Love," before capping off the night with the band's biggest song, "My Friends Over You."
