The Fillmore in Charlotte was packed on Wednesday night for Faye Webster’s Underdressed At The Symphony Tour. Benét was there to kick off the night and he did just that. This was such an interactive and fun show from the start. Benét succeeded with flying colors in his quest to get the audience ready for Faye Webster. Not only was his set an amazing foundation for getting to know him as an artist, but he also established a relationship with the crowd through jokes and banter which kept them engaged even if this was their first time hearing Benét’s music.
Seeing the crowd react so positively with an opener can be rare so it was very cool to see how much the crowd enjoyed Benét’s set and his stage presence. It was also very cool to see Faye Webster and Benét interact and support one another during their sets. Faye and Benét both took a second during their sets to complete their only quest of the night, which was to find each other’s biggest fan and asking the crowd what their favorite songs were. Benét even made a guest appearance during Faye Webster’s set to dance with her and was passed the mic during “Jonny” to sing a verse.
To start her set, a minion version of Faye Webster was projected onto her giant t-shirt, and serenaded the crowd with the beginning of her song “But Not Kiss” before Webster and her band came out to finish the song. Faye Webster played a majority of the tracks from her latest album that came out this March, Underdressed At The Symphony, while sprinkling in a few tracks from Atlanta Millionaires Club and I Know I’m Funny haha.
I have been a Faye Webster fan for years so I may be biased but this has been one of my favorite shows I’ve attended so far this year. There were songs I’ve been listening to for years that I was ecstatic to finally hear live, but I was also blown away at how beautifully her latest album translates live. This was a truly phenomenal show from the music to the connection both Benét and Faye Webster made with the fans.
