Shit just got real. The Devil Wears Prada has made it to Raleigh, NC. Where to begin on this one. The Devil Wears Prada is one of those bands we’ve all listened to during our little emo phase. Yeah, we all remember 2011,2012. Crab Crawl, Tightest Hot Topic jeans possible. Yeaaaaaah Those days!
Let’s fast forward to a more mature, loosened jeans time. 2024. The Devil Wears Prada is one of those bands that will NOT allow a crowd to not move around. With that being said, let's talk about some of the openers.
Greyhaven, Like Moths To Flames, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, and Silent Planet. All very different bands, but let me tell you--they all know how to get their points across and keep everyone literally on their tippy toes. Especially for us sixteen photographers in the pit! We got kicked out of the pit on 3 different occasions. SeeYouSpaceCowboy (mid-set), Silent Planet (mid-set) and then towards the third song for The Devil Wears Prada. There were so many crowd surfers, and the pit's intensity made it a very long night for the venue's security.
This was one of the shows where there was nonstop mosh pits and crowd surfing, nostalgic smiles and feelings. Getting into some conversations with fans, they mentioned some haven’t seen The Devil Wears Prada since their teens years. Luckily some of the fans made it out to this show to experience The Devil Wears Prada live!
Okay, Showtime! Opening with a throw back! “Mammoth.” We braced ourselves for all the Wildness. 20 seconds into the song we already had joyful crowd surfers. It was starting to get pretty gnarly! Second was “WatchTower,” which was one of their newer songs. The lead singer made his way to a handful of photographers to get our close up screaming shots! The guitar player did the same. These guys were warmed up and ready to go now!
Here comes the breakdown! Looking back at the crowd, we see everyone singing/screaming lyrics to the top of their lungs. Now, we are expecting another throw back. “Danger Wildman,” which is another Banger! With a wild breakdown. Security is already getting overwhelmed with the amount of action coming their way.
As a mini wall of death started, we all braced! At this point, it was time for us get out of security’s way. This show was wild, full of adrenaline. Slightly intense. Everything we expect at a good metal show!
I left there pretty impressed. Not listening to these guys for years and seeing them live was the way to go. Go see all of 'em live, you’ll see what I mean!
